DataAnnotation is hiring an experienced Front-End Web Designer - AI Trainer (contract) to assess how frontier AI models perform on visual design tasks. The role focuses on building realistic design briefs, running them through AI design tools, and evaluating outputs against professional design standards.

Role Focus

You will translate your professional design expertise into clear, challenging briefs such as landing pages, decks, and visualizations. After generating AI outputs, you will critique and compare results to determine which model version performs better on identical prompts and assets.

Responsibilities

Create challenging, realistic design briefs using your own professional experience.
Execute briefs using frontier AI design tools and evaluate results using the same standards you would apply to a colleague.
Compare two model versions using identical prompts and assets, then select the better performer and document where each model fell short.
Critique model-generated interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion.
Flag concrete failures with evidence, including alignment and spacing, content overflow and cutoff, typography, visual hierarchy, SVG and illustration quality, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretation.
Contribute across software and interactive work, office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media.

Requirements

Fluency in English (native or bilingual level).
Background in UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design.
Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design, and user flow.
Ability to explain why a design fails, not only that it does.
Comfort using AI design tools, or the ability to learn them quickly.
A current, in progress, or completed Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
