Web Designer - AI Trainer
Job Description
DataAnnotation is seeking an experienced Web Designer and AI Trainer to create realistic visual design briefs and assess how frontier AI design tools perform against professional standards. The contract work involves critiquing and comparing AI-generated outputs across UI/UX and multiple visual formats, with clear, evidence-based feedback.
Role Overview
You will design challenging briefs based on your professional expertise, run them through frontier AI design tools, and evaluate results against the quality level you would expect from a colleague. You will also compare multiple model versions using identical prompts and assets to determine which output performs better and identify where each falls short.
Responsibilities
- Create challenging, realistic design briefs grounded in your own professional expertise.
- Test briefs with frontier AI design tools and evaluate outputs against a professional benchmark.
- Compare two model versions on identical prompts and assets, selecting the better result and documenting shortcomings.
- Critique model-generated interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustration, and motion.
- Flag concrete failures with evidence, including alignment and spacing, content overflow and cutoff, typography, visual hierarchy, SVG and illustration quality, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretation.
- Contribute across software and interactive work, office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media.
Requirements
- Fluency in English at a native or bilingual level.
- Background in UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design.
- Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design, and user flow.
- Ability to articulate why a design fails, not just that it fails.
- Comfort working with AI design tools, or the ability to learn them quickly.
- A current, in-progress, or completed Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
