Job Description

DataAnnotation is recruiting an E-Commerce Web Designer - AI Trainer (contract) to assess how frontier AI models perform on real-world visual design tasks. The role focuses on creating realistic design briefs, running them through AI design tools, and evaluating the results against professional design standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create challenging, realistic design briefs using your own professional design expertise.
  • Run briefs through frontier AI design tools and evaluate output against the quality standard you would apply to a colleague.
  • Compare two model versions using identical prompts and assets, then determine which performs better and identify specific shortcomings.
  • Critique AI-generated interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion.
  • Report concrete failures with evidence, including alignment and spacing, content overflow and cutoff, typography, visual hierarchy, SVG and illustration quality, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretation.
  • Contribute across software and interactive work areas, including office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English at native or bilingual level.
  • Experience in UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design.
  • Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design, and user flow.
  • Ability to explain why a design is unsuccessful, not only to identify that it fails.
  • Comfort working with AI design tools, or the ability to learn them quickly.
  • A current, in-progress, or completed Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
