E-Commerce Web Designer - AI Trainer

DataAnnotation is looking for an E-Commerce Web Designer - AI Trainer with strong visual design judgment to assess how frontier AI design tools perform on real, production-like creative tasks. In this contract role (remote, New York, NY), you will build realistic design briefs, test them through AI design tools, and evaluate the results against professional standards for UI, web, and visual communication.

You will focus on creating challenging briefs, running identical prompts and assets through different model versions, and producing clear critiques that explain what works, what breaks, and why.

What you’ll do

• Craft realistic, challenging design briefs using your own professional expertise.
• Run briefs through frontier AI design tools and evaluate outputs against the standard you would expect from a colleague.
• Compare two model versions using identical prompts and assets, then determine which performed better and identify specific shortcomings.
• Critique model-generated deliverables including interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion.
• Document concrete failures with evidence, such as alignment and spacing issues, content overflow and cutoff, typography problems, visual hierarchy gaps, SVG and illustration quality concerns, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretation.
• Contribute across a range of design areas including software and interactive work, office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media.

What you bring

• Fluency in English at a native or bilingual level.
• Background in UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design.
• Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design, and user flow.
• Ability to articulate why a design fails, not just that it fails.
• Comfort working with AI design tools, or the ability to learn them quickly.
• A current, in-progress, or completed Bachelor’s is preferred but not required.

Compensation and payment

• Hourly project payments at $75–$125 USD, with bonus rates available on some projects.
• Payment is made via PayPal.
