Digital Web Designer - AI Trainer

DataAnnotation is hiring an experienced Digital Web Designer - AI Trainer to help evaluate how frontier AI models perform on real visual design tasks. If you enjoy combining professional design judgment with AI tool testing, this contract role lets you work independently and focus on design quality, critique, and measurable comparisons.

What you’ll do

You will create realistic, challenging design briefs using your own professional expertise. Those briefs will then be run through frontier AI design tools, and you will assess the results using the same standard you would apply when reviewing a colleague’s work.

• Draft design briefs for web and visual interface tasks
• Generate outputs with frontier AI design tools and critique them against professional expectations
• Compare two model versions on identical prompts and assets to determine which performed better
• Review and critique model-generated interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion
• Identify specific failures with evidence, including alignment and spacing, content overflow and cutoff, typography, visual hierarchy, SVG and illustration quality, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretation
• Contribute across related design areas such as software and interactive work, office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media

What you bring

• Fluency in English (native or bilingual level)
• Background in UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design
• Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design, and user flow
• Ability to explain why a design fails, not only that it fails
• Comfort working with AI design tools, or the ability to learn them quickly
• Bachelor’s education is preferred (in progress or completed), but not required

Contracting benefits

• Choose which projects you want to work on and when
• Work on your own schedule, on your own computer, from home
• Hourly project pay of USD 75 to 125, with bonus rates available on some projects
