Web Designer

Based in Tallahassee, Florida on site, the Web Designer role at Connective Business Solution centers on designing and building user centered websites, conducting usability testing and prototyping, and collaborating with cross functional teams to elevate the end user experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement user centered designs for websites, ensuring usable and visually cohesive interfaces.
• Apply human factors engineering, perform heuristic evaluations, and run usability tests for web and client based applications, while defining and tracking metrics to evaluate usability.
• Collaborate with Graphic Designers, Product Managers, Engineering staff and other Web Designers to improve usability, usefulness and desirability of sites.
• Conduct usability testing to validate design decisions and inform iterations.
• Provide design prototypes to communicate concepts and gather feedback.
• Offer ad hoc user interface consulting to project teams as needed.
• Participate in requirements gathering and articulate UI issues, including developing page and site prototypes.
• Utilize user centered design methodology, user scenarios, usability testing, storyboarding, and both paper and interactive prototypes.
• Demonstrate proficiency with graphic applications and related design tools.
• Demonstrate experience with HTML development tools and other authoring tools used in web production.
• Apply front end development skills using programming and scripting languages to deliver functional interfaces.
• Integrate design within program rules and system architecture, exploring innovative approaches to enhance the end user experience.
• Maintain awareness of platform and browser compatibility and address basic usability issues accordingly.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 3 years of combined IT and graphic design experience.
• Understanding of HTML and solid working knowledge of web generators and photographic libraries.
• Portfolio showcasing websites or digital solutions.
• Knowledge of user centered design methods including user scenarios, usability testing, storyboarding, and paper or interactive prototypes.
• Skills in graphic applications and related software.
• Experience with HTML development tools and other applicable authoring tools.
• Web production experience.
• Front end development experience using programming and scripting languages.
• Ability to integrate design into program rules and system architecture and create innovative approaches to improving the end user experience.
• Familiarity with platform and browser compatibility and basic usability issues.
