Job Description

The Visual Design Manager at Accenture Song leads visual design direction across engagements, builds and codifies design systems, mentors teams, and contributes to client delivery, business development, and people development onsite in Arlington, VA.

Compensation

Salary range: USD 87,400 to 266,300 per year

Responsibilities

  • Direct the visual design trajectory on client and internal engagements from concept through delivery, ensuring high quality, cohesive aesthetics, and adherence to schedules.
  • Translate abstract briefs, brand strategy, and audience insights into clear, compelling visual languages through strong conceptual thinking.
  • Set and defend an elevated craft standard, guiding brand identities, design systems, motion, typography, illustration, and digital experiences.
  • Balance strategic vision with hands-on contribution, shaping key design decisions while producing high-quality work alongside the team.
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate concepting, iteration, and production, demonstrating how these tools augment creative thinking rather than replace it.
  • Be a leading creative voice in client discussions, articulating visual perspectives and translating design rationale into strategic narratives for difficult decisions.
  • Document how AI influences visual design workflows and quantify its impact on delivery quality and team performance to evolve practice behavior.
  • Contribute to proposals, develop case studies from project work, and translate learnings into thought leadership that showcases visual design capabilities.
  • Identify new creative opportunities with existing clients, recognizing when a brand, design system, or experience challenge opens chances for deeper engagement, and partner with account leads to shape a compelling point of view.
  • Manage, support, and mentor team members to grow visual craft, build creative confidence, navigate challenges, and evolve as visual designers.
  • Remain a consistent, engaged member of the Visual Design craft, sharing methods and outcomes, and contributing to the discipline’s evolution.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of visual design experience across diverse industries, brand types, platforms, and contexts.
  • 4+ years leading visual design engagements end-to-end, from creative concepting and visual strategy through production-ready delivery.
  • 4+ years directing the creation of brand identities, design systems, typography, motion, illustration, and digital UI with a strong, cohesive visual voice.
  • 4+ years producing and directing high-fidelity visual work with meticulous attention to detail, including pixel-perfect deliverables and developer-ready specs.
  • 3+ years directly managing or coaching visual designers, fostering independent creative growth among contributors.
  • 3+ years working in agile, cross-functional environments with product designers, product managers, engineers, and strategists to deliver cohesive experiences.
  • 3+ years delivering high-caliber visual design at scale, solving complex product or brand challenges and driving measurable impact on customer experiences and business goals.
  • 3+ years making informed ground visual design decisions with a deep understanding of user experience (UX).
  • 3+ years contributing to scalable design systems that maintain visual consistency across products, platforms, and channels.
  • 3+ years embedding AI tools and workflows into visual design practices, from concept generation to rapid iteration and modeling new ways of working for a team.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Claude Design, and relevant motion or AI design tools; this is not a purely managerial role.
  • 3+ years using facilitation and creative presence to present visual strategy and design rationale to senior client stakeholders and guide decisions under pressure.

Bonus points if you have

  • Fluency in adjacent areas such as brand strategy, service design, or content design, or self-directed skill expansion
  • Experience contributing to practice-level initiatives like ways of working, craft assets, onboarding, or community forums
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in visual design, visual communications, graphic design, fine art, or related field
  • Experience in management consulting, a creative agency, or a professional services setting
  • Contributions to external thought leadership, including publishing POVs, speaking at events, or representing the practice in the design community
