Job Description

As a Visual Design Associate Manager, you will steer visual design direction and design systems across engagements, mentor teammates, and integrate AI-enabled workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to shaping the visual design direction on engagements, whether internal or client-facing, from concept through delivery, ensuring quality, cohesive aesthetics, and on-time milestones.
  • Conceptualize briefs and brand strategy, translating audience insights into compelling visuals while developing and defending an original visual point of view.
  • Create polished visual design across brand identities, design systems, typography, motion, illustration, and digital experiences, demonstrating craft and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Operate hands-on and autonomously: own your workstream, make deliberate design decisions, and deliver production-ready outputs with minimal direction.
  • Leverage AI tools within your workflow to speed concepting, iteration, and production, and contribute to the team's evolving AI-enabled practices.
  • Participate confidently in client and stakeholder discussions, articulating design rationale clearly and establishing a growing presence as a trusted creative voice.
  • Document and communicate how AI tools reshape your workflow, contributing to the practice’s evolving understanding of AI-driven visual design.
  • Contribute to proposals and case studies by adding project work, process documentation, and design narratives that highlight our visual design strengths.
  • Remain attuned to internal and client needs and creative opportunities on engagements, flagging potential areas for deeper work or expanded scope to your lead.
  • Provide informal mentorship to junior teammates, sharing feedback, references, and workflows that help elevate their visual craft.
  • Actively participate in the Visual Design Craft community, contributing resources, discussions, and ongoing discipline development.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of visual design experience across diverse industries, brands, platforms, and contexts.
  • Experience delivering visual design engagements end-to-end, from concept and visual strategy through to production-ready delivery.
  • Proven ability to develop brand identities, design systems, typography, motion, illustration, and digital UI with a strong and evolving visual voice.
  • Delivery of high-fidelity visuals with meticulous attention to detail, including pixel-perfect deliverables and developer-ready specifications.
  • Experience providing feedback and informal guidance to junior designers, helping others develop their craft and creative confidence.
  • Experience working in agile and cross-functional environments, collaborating with product designers, product managers, engineers, and strategists to deliver cohesive experiences.
  • Strong grounding in UX principles that inform visual decisions, ensuring intuitive guidance while expressing a coherent brand point of view.
  • Experience contributing to scalable design systems that ensure visual consistency across products, platforms, and channels.
  • Comfort using AI tools in the visual design process, from concept generation and mood-boarding to rapid iteration, and openness to evolving AI-enabled workflows.
  • Recent hands-on experience with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and relevant motion, illustration, or AI design tools.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to develop client presence, including presenting design rationale and contributing to creative discussions with stakeholders.
