Job Description

Based in New York City, The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation is seeking a Vice President, Senior Product Designer to lead user centered design for complex, enterprise-scale systems. This role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration and turning research insights into intuitive product experiences that serve both customers and internal teams.

Compensation

USD 68,000 - 203,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Lead with a user first approach, ensuring design decisions address user needs, behaviors, and insights from research to deliver a seamless experience.
  • Map end-to-end user journeys across customers, operations, servicing teams, and systems to uncover pain points and moments of opportunity; align teams on a shared vision of user needs.
  • Craft complex web interfaces and workflows that are highly functional and visually engaging, developing intuitive layouts, navigation patterns, and interaction models for intricate systems; leverage animation and micro-interactions to guide users.
  • Demonstrate mastery of design tools such as Figma and Miro to create high-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and mockups that clearly communicate interaction models and UI specifications.
  • Contribute to and align with a global design system to ensure visual consistency across interfaces; develop reusable workflow patterns and components for broader team use.
  • Translate the challenges of complex systems into clear, usable design solutions that facilitate understanding and interaction.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to turn business goals into practical, user-centered design solutions that respect technical constraints.
  • Articulate design concepts and rationale to diverse stakeholders, using storytelling to communicate the product vision and gain alignment.
  • Mentor junior designers and foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration within the team.

Requirements

  • A portfolio is required to be considered for this position. The portfolio should demonstrate expertise described above and may be provided as a Figma link, PDF, or personal site.
  • Typically five or more years of experience, or equivalent expertise demonstrated through portfolio and leadership impact.
