Staff Designer, UI Design

Staff UI Designer on the Tesla Design team, based in Hawthorne, CA (onsite). You will help shape new user experiences across Tesla’s product portfolio, from in-car UI to the mobile app, through research, design, innovation, and prototyping. This role supports end-to-end UI project execution, with a focus on creating consistent, high-quality design across platforms.

What you’ll do

• Use UI design expertise to create mock-ups, prototype interaction models, and define navigation schemes
• Produce pixel-perfect comps and project-ready UI assets
• Make design decisions that support a design language consistent across the Tesla UI platform (in-car, mobile, and more)
• Strategically lead UI design work, managing projects from concept to implementation
• Serve as a liaison to coordinate feedback and maintain design integrity between Interaction Designers, Software Engineers, and Project Managers
• Review input from other business groups, then help prioritize functions and build a project roadmap with Project Managers

What you bring

• 7+ years of experience in interaction design, prototyping, and complex design systems
• A strong portfolio of 3D work
• Experience using AI coding tools to produce frontend code
• Passion for interactive data visualization
• Experience building foundational layout and typographic systems
• Demonstrated track record developing new interaction models for multiple form factors and interfaces (Mobile counts)

Compensation

USD 159,600 - 342,000 per year + cash and stock awards and benefits. Pay offered may vary based on individualized factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional elements dependent on the position offered, with plan participation details provided if an employee receives an offer.
