Job Description

Location: Gaithersburg, MD (hybrid) • Salary: USD 127,209 - 166,962 per year. Evinova offers a health tech mission focused on accelerating digital transformation in life sciences, a collaborative culture across design, engineering, and product, and a flexible work environment that includes in-person collaboration three days per week. In this role you will lead the Evinova Design System at AstraZeneca, guiding architecture, components, governance, and cross‑product alignment from Gaithersburg.

About the opportunity

We are seeking a design systems focused Senior UI/UX Designer to shepherd the next evolution of the Evinova Design System. This is a hands‑on position for someone with exceptional UI and interaction design skills, strong visual craft, deep systems thinking, and a proven record of building design systems within multi‑product contexts. As a member of the Futures Team, you will help define the next generation of design system practices, tooling, and workflows at Evinova.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ongoing evolution of the design system across multiple products, shaping component strategy, governance, adoption, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, and Product to standardize standards, resolve system‑level challenges, and enable clear decision‑making
  • Develop and maintain components, patterns, and libraries to boost usability, consistency, composability, and efficiency across experiences
  • Prepare the design system for future workflows, including AI enabled tools, rapid prototyping, and modern design‑to‑code approaches
  • Work with engineering to keep design and coded components in alignment, covering tokens, properties, states, and responsive behavior
  • Embed accessibility into foundations and everyday decisions, with WCAG 2.2 AA standards built in by default
  • Produce clear documentation, usage guidance, and release communications to support adoption and consistent use across teams
  • Maintain high visual and interaction quality across components, patterns, and libraries
  • Gather feedback, identify gaps, and help shape roadmap priorities to strengthen the design system over time

Requirements

  • Design system specialist: hands‑on designer with experience creating, maintaining, and scaling design system components across multiple products, supporting governance and adoption
  • Design expertise: portfolio demonstrating UX, UI, and interaction design mastery, with strong product thinking and ability to create reusable patterns and components
  • Systems thinking: ability to craft scalable, consistent solutions with working knowledge of tokens, component structure, and design‑to‑code alignment
  • Cross‑functional collaboration: proven ability to partner with design, product, and engineering and influence decisions through clarity and practical thinking
  • Forward thinking: curiosity about AI enabled workflows and emerging tools, helping shape a design system that supports future ways of designing, building, and scaling
  • Based in the Gaithersburg, Maryland area, with willingness to collaborate in the office and travel as needed

  • Experience in healthcare and digital health sectors
  • Experience designing AI native recommendation or simulation products with data science and engineering partners
  • Familiarity with clinical trials and the drug development lifecycle
