Senior Product Designer

Senior Product Designer responsible for end-to-end design and development of licensed costume products from concept through production, collaborating with internal teams and licensees in Glendale, CA on a 0-8+ month contract (hybrid: four days on-site, Fridays remote) at $55-61 per hour DOE.

Responsibilities

• Concept, design, sketch, prototype, 2D graphics, and 3D modeling to deliver trend-right consumer centric product lines with market-leading innovation and strong price/value across each tier.
• Oversee product and licensed packaging approvals through online systems and collaborative sessions, upholding high standards in character execution, storytelling, color, material, form, and function while maximizing profitability.
• Develop and design product mock-ups, create layout for creative presentations, POV boards, Activation Kits, and retail pitch decks.
• Collaborate with internal partners across Creative Design, Licensing, Commercialization, Global Product Design, BERGs, CBM, Legal, Business Affairs, Product Integrity, Integrated Retail, BPM, Public Affairs, Cultural Consultants, and external partners to design and approve all products.
• Monitor competitors, product innovation, and market dynamics to inform design decisions.
• Research initial seasonal trends by category to guide concept development.
• Lead product design and development from concept through final production stages.
• Direct product approvals including creative direction, revisions, and detailed feedback to external licensees.
• Establish and maintain relationships with licensees, vendors, and internal teams overseeing all creative aspects of product development.
• Assist in onboarding new partners to the design and development process.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in costume, fashion, apparel, or consumer product design and development.
• Solid knowledge across hardlines and softlines categories including raw materials, plastics, textiles, print, pattern, graphic composition, and manufacturing.
• Expertise in product prototypes with understanding of manufacturing processes, sculpting, tooling, paint masters, materials, and mechanisms.
• Strong product design skills in 3D product design, technical design, sketching, and applying art to final mechanical artifacts, fabrics, and trims.
• Experience or appreciation for sewing, patternmaking, and costume or fashion design is valued.
• Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple design projects within deadlines.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Proficient in MS Office, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
