Job Description

The role focuses on how people find what they want and come back again, with particular emphasis on Ads and Notifications, while working to keep discovery experiences relevant to buyers and valuable to sellers.

At Whatnot, Discovery plays a central role in a complex matching challenge: connecting the right buyers with the right content at the right moment in ways that feel trustworthy, exciting, and well-timed. • Help shape Ad Experiences within discovery surfaces, balancing buyer relevance, seller value, and overall ecosystem health
  • Create flows, mocks, prototypes, and polished UI that clearly communicate design intent
  • Work closely with product, engineering, data, and design peers to explore ideas, test hypotheses, and improve the user experience
  • Participate in critiques and feedback loops, iterating quickly based on learnings
  • Focus on detail while staying aligned to broader user and business goals

What you bring

  • 5+ years of experience designing digital products
  • Strong visual and interaction design fundamentals
  • A portfolio demonstrating craft, clear thinking, and care for the end-to-end user experience
  • Curiosity about how design supports both user needs and business outcomes
  • Excitement to work on consumer-facing product experiences with high visibility and frequent iteration
  • Comfort collaborating with product managers, engineers, and other designers
  • Willingness to learn quickly, ask good questions, and incorporate feedback
  • Strong communication skills in both verbal and written form
  • High attention to detail and a desire to keep refining until the work feels right

Nice to have

  • Experience designing consumer products, marketplaces, feeds, messaging, or notification experiences
  • Interest in personalization, discovery systems, recommendations, or growth-oriented product work
  • Excitement for live commerce, collecting, or online communities

Location and salary

  • Location: Seattle, WA (hybrid)
  • Salary range: USD 153,000 - 235,000 per year
