Job Description

Superfeet is seeking a Product Designer to lead industrial product design for product concepts, line extensions, and new product development. This role is an individual contributor position focused on taking designs from early concept through production while coordinating closely with cross-functional partners to deliver launch-ready, manufacturable outcomes.

Role Overview

You will own industrial design for assigned categories and projects, ensuring alignment between consumer and athlete needs, biomechanical intent, brand strategy, and business goals. You will translate research and market insights into clear concepts and product architecture, then communicate design intent through sketches, CAD, renderings, prototypes, and documentation to support fast, aligned decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own industrial design for assigned categories/projects from concept through production, aligning consumer/athlete needs, biomechanical intent, brand strategy, and business goals.
  • Advance design language, form, function, and materials while meeting performance targets and developing manufacturability.
  • Convert briefs, research, and market insight into concepts and product architecture that balance performance, comfort, durability, aesthetics, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Communicate design intent using sketches, CAD, renderings, prototypes, product specifications, and presentations to support aligned decisions.
  • Partner cross-functionally across Product Management, Product Development, Engineering, Marketing, and Operations to iterate concepts and samples and deliver launch-ready solutions.
  • Support DFM, cost, and technical reviews, making tradeoffs that protect core design intent.
  • Manage external design and visualization partners as needed; contribute to innovation workstreams; model Superfeet values and build trusted relationships.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong design fundamentals and proficiency in sketching, prototyping, 3D CAD (Rhino preferred), rendering, Adobe Creative Suite, and technical communication.
  • Ability to translate athlete and consumer insights and performance requirements into compelling, manufacturable product concepts and design direction.
  • Strong functional problem-solving skills, including product architecture and line-building, with clear articulation of design decisions and rationale.
  • Knowledge of color, materials, finishes, manufacturing processes, construction, prototyping, tooling, and production considerations.
  • Ability to provide color, material, and finish direction and contribute to broader product and material strategies.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for collaboration across engineering, development, vendors, and manufacturing partners.
  • Strong organization and project management skills, including aligning teams, managing competing priorities, and delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Passion for innovation, sport and movement, sustainable design, and creating products that positively impact people’s lives.
  • People enjoy working with you.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Product Design (or related).
  • +5 years designing and developing physical consumer products (sporting goods/footwear/performance preferred).
  • Proven experience owning products from initial concept through production.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering effectively with engineering, product development, vendors, and manufacturing teams.
  • Portfolio demonstrating functional problem-solving, product architecture and line-building, and thoughtful design rationale (not aesthetics alone).
  • Experience working with materials, finishes, manufacturing methods, prototyping, tooling, and production processes.
