Coates Group is seeking a Product Designer to join our Chicago, IL onsite team. You’ll translate complex requirements into clear design concepts, craft high-quality solutions, and push usability improvements forward while partnering with Product Owners and Engineering leads to drive research and measurable product success.

Responsibilities

Develop product design concepts from complex requirements
Deliver high-quality solutions using flow diagrams, graphic designs, storyboards and site maps
Address product usability challenges with thoughtful design solutions
Collaborate with Product Owners and Engineering leads to drive outcomes
Apply design best practices across all deliverables and ensure accessibility standards
Understand the design research process, support the Product Owner, and formalize research into insights and ideas
Work with Product Owners to define success frameworks for each product solution and optimize results

Requirements

5+ years of experience in a digital design role
Proficiency with UI design tools such as Figma, Sketch or Adobe XD
Strong knowledge of design processes, methodologies and principles
Experience creating artifacts like Information Architecture diagrams, Archetypes + Personas, Customer Journey Maps, User Flows, Scenarios, Wireframes and Prototypes, plus Usability testing scripts
Demonstrable design capability with a portfolio showcasing usable experiences across devices and contexts
Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, especially After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
Experience with graphic design and asset output for the Web
Proficiency in HTML5/CSS3 and CSS animation
Experience with video editing and animation
