Creative Director, AIX Creative Studio

Lead creative vision and art direction for AI Experiences across product, marketing, campaigns, and physical moments in a hybrid, hands-on leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Set the creative vision for AI Experiences, defining the visual language, tone, and narrative point of view used across product, brand, and marketing
• Art direct at the highest level by reviewing, shaping, and elevating work across visual identity, motion, typography, and UI, with a focus on distinctive quality
• Stay hands-on with the craft by personally sketching, designing key visuals, or pushing concepts forward when needed
• Lead and grow a visually-focused creative team through hiring, mentoring, and directing creative designers and art directors
• Shape story and language alongside visuals by partnering with Creative Strategy and Brand Writing leads
• Build and leverage relationships with creative agencies, production partners, and creative talent
• Bridge product and marketing by keeping the creative thread consistent from first-run product experience to the campaign launch
• Design across digital and physical touchpoints, including in-product moments, digital campaigns, launch events, physical installations, and experiential brand moments
• Partner cross-functionally with product, engineering, research, and marketing leadership to align creative ambition with product reality
• Represent the creative studio internally and externally by presenting work, building conviction, and advocating for craft

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 7+ years experience in product or service design
• OR Bachelor’s Degree in the listed fields AND 9+ years experience in product or service design
• OR equivalent experience (including demonstrated experience in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems) AND 5+ years people management experience
• 15+ years in design and art direction, including significant time as a creative leader (Creative Director, Executive Creative Director, or equivalent) in an agency, in-house studio, or brand
• A distinctive visual point of view, shown through a portfolio spanning brand identity, digital product, campaign, and ideally physical/experiential work
• Ability to operate across the spectrum, from sketching in a notebook or design tool to setting strategy with senior executives within the same day
• Exceptional presentation skills and the gravitas to champion bold creative ideas with senior leadership
• Strong sensibility for story and language, with the ability to sharpen narrative even if writing is not the primary craft
• Experience leading and growing creative teams, including hiring, mentoring, and managing multidisciplinary talent (designers, writers, art directors, producers)
• Comfort spanning product and marketing, with experience or a clear point of view across both brand and product design
• Real cultural fluency, with active engagement in music, entertainment, fashion, or adjacent creative communities, ideally supported by projects, collaborations, or ventures outside a traditional day job
• A track record of shipping ambitious creative work at scale, ideally including work recognized publicly (awards, press, cultural impact)
• Comfort operating in a large, matrixed organization while protecting the integrity of the creative vision
• Experience directing creative for AI or emerging-technology products specifically
• A personal creative practice or project/venture (label, publication, gallery, studio) indicating cultural engagement beyond the day job
• Experience directing physical/experiential work, including installations, events, retail, or spatial design

Role Details

• Location: Mountain View, CA (onsite)
• Compensation: USD 165,600 - 370,800 per year
• Experience level: Minimum 7 years
