Creative Director
Job Description
Bakery Agency is building global campaigns from the inside out, with a creative culture rooted in craft and accountability. This Creative Director role owns the work from the first idea through the last frame that ships, leading a multidisciplinary team across campaigns for both famous brands and cult favorites. In Austin, TX, you’ll help set the bar, protect the details, and guide the team through complex briefs, client feedback, and fast-moving pitch cycles.
What you’ll do
- You own the creative end-to-end, from the first idea in the room to the final frame that ships.
- You lead a multidisciplinary team on global campaigns for famous brands and cult brands.
- You set and defend the bar for the work when clients or deadlines push back.
- You stay hands-on, with directors here still writing the line and art-directing the frame when it matters most.
- You help win business, win awards, and win talent.
- You oversee every piece of creative on the team, covering idea, writing, design, film, online, and experience from concept to delivery.
- You bring a point of view strong enough to create clarity from a messy brief.
- You hire, direct, and defend the quality of the work when it’s under threat.
- You present to clients, take feedback that’s real, and earn trust to ship the work you believe in.
- You extend Bakery’s brand presence through press, stages, juries, and awards.
What you’ll own day to day
- Creative output across disciplines: concept to delivery across idea, writing, design, film, online, and experience.
- Creative direction rooted in an opinion that brings clarity to complicated briefs.
- Team leadership: a mix of staff and freelance creatives, including hiring, directing, and defending the work.
- The room: leading client conversations and incorporating feedback to win trust.
- Bakery’s presence out in the world via press, stages, juries, and awards.
Requirements
- 10+ years in agencies producing work we’ve seen.
- Portfolio showing work that ran and is great.
- Awards matter to you as well.
- Real cultural fluency.
- Range across film, social, digital, and experiential.
- Ability to win the room.
- Absolute craft obsession, including an intense attention to detail.
- Understanding what makes top directors and makers unique and knowing how to work with them.
- Ability to operate in the agency creative direction muscle at a high level (hiring from the agency world, not brand side or another industry).
- Experience working with multiple clients at once, including pitch cadence that doesn’t stop and production breadth and pace.
- Understanding the world the agency operates in, with agency-level expectations and momentum.
- A creative style that may not please everyone: the work can be polarizing.
