Assistant Director for Marketing (Graphic Design, Brand Management & Web Support)
Job Description
Manhattanville University seeks an in-house graphic design and branding lead in Purchase, NY to produce assets, enforce brand standards, manage marketing design projects, and provide front-end web support.
Responsibilities
- Lead as the campus in-house graphic designer, creating high-quality visuals across print, digital media, environmental graphics, and web properties.
- Design marketing collateral such as event materials, print publications, digital graphics, signage, presentations, advertisements, branded templates, and web visuals.
- Convert institutional messaging and complex information into clear, visually engaging designs.
- Ensure every design aligns with the university's visual identity, tone, and branding guidelines.
- Guard the university brand by applying standards consistently across departments, initiatives, platforms, and digital properties.
- Oversee brand approvals via Marq, handling reviews, feedback, and final sign-off.
- Keep brand guidelines, templates, and approved assets current to support campus-wide compliance.
- Advise campus partners on correct brand usage.
- Support visual design, layout, and brand consistency across the university website and related digital properties.
- Work with digital communications and IT to implement design updates, templates, landing pages, and CMS-based enhancements.
- Develop and optimize web graphics and layouts to enhance user experience, accessibility, and visual coherence.
- Assist with basic front-end tasks such as content layout, formatting, image optimization, and maintaining brand alignment.
- Ensure web content adheres to brand standards, accessibility best practices, and institutional messaging.
- Act as the main point of contact for marketing design requests, clarifying scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Oversee projects from intake to completion, coordinating with internal staff and external vendors.
- Provide ongoing status updates to stakeholders and keep projects on schedule and within scope.
- Assist with prioritization and workflow management aligned to department goals.
- Partner with communications, editorial, and digital teams on integrated campaigns.
- Prepare and finalize design files through review, revisions, and production.
- Coordinate with external vendors for printing, signage, web support, and specialty production.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of professional design experience.
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, marketing, web design, or related field.
- Outstanding visual design and typography/layout skills.
- Solid understanding of brand systems and visual identity guidelines.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and a collaborative mindset.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Working knowledge of web design principles, accessibility standards, and CMS platforms.
- Ability to translate strategic goals into effective visual communication.
