Job Description

Photon offers a design-forward, collaborative environment in New York State with onsite work. This contract UI/UX Designer role provides the opportunity to shape web and mobile experiences, partner closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders, and advocate for accessible, user-centered design across products.

Responsibilities

Design and iterate user interfaces for web and mobile apps using Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
Conduct user research, gather feedback, and analyze usage data to guide design decisions
Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups
Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate and consistent implementation
Advocate for user-centric design and accessibility best practices
Maintain and evolve design systems, component libraries, and UI guidelines
Participate in design critiques, usability testing, and ongoing product improvements

Requirements

2–5+ years of experience as a UI/UX Designer, Product Designer, or similar role
Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design across digital products
Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, or Framer
Solid understanding of UX principles, usability heuristics, and interaction design
Experience in responsive and mobile-first design
Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially with cross-functional teams
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development environments

Compensation, benefits and duration

Minimum Compensation: USD 44,000
Maximum Compensation: USD 154,000
Compensation is based on actual experience and qualifications of the candidate. The above is a reasonable and a good faith estimate for the role.
