Adjunct Faculty to teach courses in UX/UI Design

Touro University New York invites an experienced adjunct faculty member to teach a graduate level UX/UI Design Principles course on onsite at the Manhattan campus. The role emphasizes core design principles, research methods, and hands-on use of industry tools to prepare students for professional practice.
Overview
The Graduate School of Technology seeks an instructor to lead a graduate level UX/UI Design Principles course. The curriculum introduces essential knowledge of industry standard design software, including Figma, Adobe XD, and Sketch, equipping students with practical tool fluency used in the design industry. The course also covers foundational principles in information architecture, interaction and visual design, and usability concepts that underpin effective user experiences.
Responsibilities
- Teach at least one graduate level course (3 credits) on site at the Manhattan campus during 6:00 pm to 9:15 pm.
- Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Record and report student data in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain a focus on achieving clearly defined student learning outcomes.
- Consider the needs and abilities of Touro’s international student body in instruction and assessment.
- Familiarize oneself with available academic and social support resources.
- Make reasonable accommodations to address individual differences among students.
- Uphold the academic integrity standards of Touro University.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in UX/UI design, human-computer interaction, graphic design, or a related field.
- Proven industry experience in UX/UI design or related roles.
- Proficiency with industry standard UX/UI design software, including Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and similar tools.
- Solid grounding in fundamental design principles applicable to UX/UI design, such as information architecture, user interface patterns, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing methodologies.
- Extensive knowledge of research methods essential for UX/UI design, including personas, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
- A genuine passion for teaching and mentoring students, fostering ongoing growth in the UX/UI design field.
- Commitment to student success and providing guidance toward academic and career goals within UX/UI design.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to convey complex concepts, mentor students, and encourage engagement and critical thinking.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials based on student progress and needs.
- Comprehensive understanding of UX/UI design principles, aesthetics, and accessibility.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
