Job Description

Lands' End is seeking a Social Media Art Director to steer the visual creative direction across social platforms from a hybrid role based in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. The position combines three weeks on site per month with one fully remote week and carries a salary range of USD 80,000 - 100,000 per year.

Responsibilities

Lead and refine the visual direction for all social content across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, and emerging channels.
Translate brand strategy, campaigns, and trends into scroll-stopping, social-first creative concepts.
Conceptualize, design, and supervise the production of static graphics, animated elements, and short-form video content.
Collaborate with Social, Marketing, Copy, and Production teams to develop cohesive storytelling and campaigns.
Ensure social assets reflect Lands' End brand guidelines while pushing creative boundaries.
Stay ahead of social, design, and cultural trends, contributing fresh ideas and perspectives.
Provide art direction and feedback to designers, freelancers, creators, and content partners.
Manage multiple projects on tight timelines while maintaining quality and consistency.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in art direction, graphic design, or visual creative, preferably with a strong focus on social media.
A standout portfolio demonstrating social-first concepts and execution.
Strong understanding of platform-specific best practices and performance-driven creative approaches.
Expertise in typography, layout, color, and visual storytelling.
Experience working with photography, video, motion, and mixed media.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere) or equivalent tools.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to receive feedback, iterate quickly, and lead creatively.
Experience with lifestyle, fashion, or consumer brands.
Familiarity with creator/influencer content and user-generated content (UGC).
Motion graphics or video editing expertise.

You will partner with the Creative Director and cross-functional teams to translate brand strategy into visually compelling imagery, shaping the look and feel of shoots for catalog, e-commerce, digital, and social media. This role blends creative leadership with hands-on production, providing influence across multiple touchpoints while staying current with evolving trends, performance insights, and customer dynamics.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Creative Director to shape and evolve the brand’s visual identity through photography and video content.
Direct the on-set creative direction of photo and video productions, including shot lists, mood boards, lighting direction, composition, and overall tone.
Guide photographers, stylists, hair and makeup artists, models, and production crews to realize the creative vision for each shoot.
Oversee styling direction to ensure product presentation, wardrobe, and props align with brand aesthetics, seasonal themes, and campaign concepts.
Maintain the creative quality across studio and location shoots, ensuring consistency across catalog, e-commerce, digital, social, and advertising channels.
Direct set design and environment selection for studio and on-location shoots to support the brand narrative.
Partner with marketing, merchandising, and e-commerce teams to understand product priorities and customer insights that inform shoot planning and execution.
Review final imagery with retouching and post-production teams to ensure assets meet brand standards and creative intent.
Manage shoot schedules, timelines, and budgets in coordination with the production team to enable efficient execution without compromising quality.
Stay informed about photography trends, visual storytelling techniques, emerging formats, and the competitive landscape to push the brand forward.
Leverage customer insights, data, and performance metrics to inform visual decisions and optimize the impact of photo and video content.
Adapt quickly to changing priorities, weather or location challenges, and on-set variables while sustaining creative excellence.

Requirements

5-7 years of relevant experience in studio / photo art direction or creative production leadership roles.
Strong portfolio demonstrating photo art direction across lifestyle and product photography, on-set direction, and multi-channel storytelling.
Deep expertise in photography direction, lighting, composition, and styling with a keen visual eye.
Proven ability to lead on-set productions and translate concepts into polished, brand-aligned imagery.
Solid understanding of how photography and video shape brand perception and customer engagement across channels.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate a creative vision and inspire on-set teams.
Strong grasp of product and lifestyle photography and the technical requirements of each.
Ability to provide clear, constructive real-time direction on set and elevate the work of photographers, stylists, and production crews.
Highly collaborative with experience working cross-functionally in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of balancing multiple shoots and priorities.
Working knowledge of post-production workflows, retouching standards, and digital asset management.
Proficiency in Capture One and the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
