Lands’ End offers an on-site opportunity in Dodgeville, WI to lead the creative direction for photography and video across brand channels. You will partner with the Creative Director and cross-functional teams to translate brand strategy into visually compelling imagery, shaping the look and feel of shoots for catalog, e-commerce, digital, and social media. This role blends creative leadership with hands-on production, providing influence across multiple touchpoints while staying current with evolving trends, performance insights, and customer dynamics.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Creative Director to shape and evolve the brand’s visual identity through photography and video content.
- Direct the on-set creative direction of photo and video productions, including shot lists, mood boards, lighting direction, composition, and overall tone.
- Guide photographers, stylists, hair and makeup artists, models, and production crews to realize the creative vision for each shoot.
- Oversee styling direction to ensure product presentation, wardrobe, and props align with brand aesthetics, seasonal themes, and campaign concepts.
- Maintain the creative quality across studio and location shoots, ensuring consistency across catalog, e-commerce, digital, social, and advertising channels.
- Direct set design and environment selection for studio and on-location shoots to support the brand narrative.
- Partner with marketing, merchandising, and e-commerce teams to understand product priorities and customer insights that inform shoot planning and execution.
- Review final imagery with retouching and post-production teams to ensure assets meet brand standards and creative intent.
- Manage shoot schedules, timelines, and budgets in coordination with the production team to enable efficient execution without compromising quality.
- Stay informed about photography trends, visual storytelling techniques, emerging formats, and the competitive landscape to push the brand forward.
- Leverage customer insights, data, and performance metrics to inform visual decisions and optimize the impact of photo and video content.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities, weather or location challenges, and on-set variables while sustaining creative excellence.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in studio / photo art direction or creative production leadership roles.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating photo art direction across lifestyle and product photography, on-set direction, and multi-channel storytelling.
- Deep expertise in photography direction, lighting, composition, and styling with a keen visual eye.
- Proven ability to lead on-set productions and translate concepts into polished, brand-aligned imagery.
- Solid understanding of how photography and video shape brand perception and customer engagement across channels.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate a creative vision and inspire on-set teams.
- Strong grasp of product and lifestyle photography and the technical requirements of each.
- Ability to provide clear, constructive real-time direction on set and elevate the work of photographers, stylists, and production crews.
- Highly collaborative with experience working cross-functionally in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of balancing multiple shoots and priorities.
- Working knowledge of post-production workflows, retouching standards, and digital asset management.
- Proficiency in Capture One and the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
