Job Description

Intone Networks seeks a Web Designer in Washington, DC (onsite) to design, develop, maintain, and enhance Drupal based web applications (Drupal 9/10/11) delivering accessible, high performing digital experiences in collaboration with designers, content teams, product owners, and IT leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Drupal development and architecture: design, configure, and maintain Drupal websites (9/10/11); build custom modules, themes, and integrations following Drupal best practices; implement content types, views, taxonomies, blocks, and menus; ensure code quality through version control, peer reviews, and adherence to Drupal Coding Standards, PSR-4, and Composer workflows.
  • Site maintenance and enhancements: perform regular updates, security patches, and module upgrades; troubleshoot and resolve site issues, performance bottlenecks, and compatibility problems; optimize for speed, accessibility (WCAG 2.1+), SEO, and mobile responsiveness; maintain documentation for configurations, custom code, and deployment processes.
  • Integration and API development: build and maintain integrations with REST, GraphQL, SSO, CRM, payment gateways, and other systems; work with cloud hosting environments (Acquia, Pantheon, AWS, Azure) to deploy and manage Drupal applications; implement CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployments.
  • Collaboration and project support: partner with UX/UI designers to implement modern, user friendly interfaces; collaborate with content editors to improve workflows, permissions, and editorial experience; participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives); provide technical guidance and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience; 10 years of relevant work
  • 6+ years troubleshooting production problems related to software applications
  • 6+ years of experience with Composer, Drush, Git, and modern development workflows
  • 6+ years understanding web accessibility standards (WCAG), security best practices, and performance optimization
  • 6+ years with cloud hosting platforms such as Acquia, Pantheon, AWS, or Azure
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, Twig, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive design
  • 4+ years knowledge of MySQL or MariaDB and database optimization
  • 4+ years of strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • 4+ years of excellent written and oral communication with collaboration abilities
  • 4+ years of attention to detail and commitment to high quality work
  • 3+ years of Drupal development experience, including Drupal 9/10/11
  • 4+ years experience working in Agile/Scrum environments (highly desired)
  • Acquia Drupal Developer or Site Builder certification is highly desired
  • 4+ years experience with Docker or containerized development environments
