Visual Design Manager
Job Description
As a Visual Design Manager at Accenture Song, you guide the visual design direction across engagements, shaping brand identities, design systems, and digital experiences. You will own client delivery, contribute to business development, and mentor team members, while leveraging AI to accelerate creative work.
Location
Detroit, MI (onsite)
Compensation
Annual salary range: USD 87,400 to 266,300
Responsibilities
- Direct the visual design approach on engagements from concept through delivery, ensuring design quality, cohesive aesthetics, and adherence to schedules.
- Act as a strategic thinker, translating briefs, brand strategy, and audience insights into clear visual languages.
- Establish and defend a high craft standard across brand identities, design systems, motion, typography, illustration, and digital experiences.
- Balance vision with hands-on involvement: set creative direction while remaining closely connected to the work, guiding key decisions and producing high-quality output with the team.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate concepting, iteration, and production, demonstrating how these tools enhance creativity without supplanting human thinking.
- Be a leading creative voice in client discussions, articulating visual perspective and translating design rationale into strategic narratives that guide complex decisions under pressure.
- Document how AI influences visual design workflows and quantify its impact on delivery quality and team performance to evolve practice operations.
- Contribute to proposals, develop case studies from project work, and convert learnings into compelling thought leadership that showcases design capabilities.
- Identify new creative opportunities with existing clients, recognizing when brand, design system, or experience challenges warrant deeper engagement, and collaborate with account leads to shape a persuasive point of view.
- Mentor and support team members in day-to-day work, helping them grow craft, confidence, and independence as visual designers.
- Remain an engaged member of the Visual Design craft, sharing methods, references, and outcomes to support the discipline’s ongoing evolution.
Requirements

- 4+ years leading visual design engagements end-to-end, from concepting and visual strategy through production-ready delivery; directing the creation of brand identities, design systems, typography, motion, illustration, and digital UI with a strong visual voice; delivering high-fidelity work with precise specifications.
- 3+ years directly managing or coaching visual designers, with a track record of developing contributors into more capable, independent practitioners.
- Experience working in agile, cross-functional environments with product designers, product managers, engineers, and strategists to deliver cohesive experiences; shipping high-caliber visual design at scale and driving measurable impact.
- Strong grounding in user experience considerations within visual design decisions; experience building scalable design systems ensuring visual consistency across products and channels.
- Experience embedding AI tools and workflows into visual design practices, from concept generation and mood-boarding to rapid iteration, including modeling AI-enabled workflows for a team.
- Hands-on proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Claude Design, and related motion/illustration tools; this role is not purely managerial.
