Visual Design Associate Manager
Job Description
This role shapes visual design direction across engagements, builds design systems, and mentors team members, leveraging AI enabled workflows in collaboration with cross functional partners.
Responsibilities
- Shape and contribute to the visual design direction for client and internal engagements from concept to delivery, ensuring quality, cohesive aesthetics, and on time milestones.
- Translate briefs, brand strategy, and audience insights into compelling visuals, developing and defending an original visual point of view.
- Deliver high quality design across brand identities, design systems, typography, motion, illustration, and digital experiences with strong craft and attention to detail.
- Take ownership of your workstream with hands on execution, making deliberate design decisions and delivering production ready outputs with minimal redirection.
- Actively integrate AI tools into concepting, iteration, and production, while helping the team evolve AI enabled workflows.
- Engage confidently in client and stakeholder conversations, clearly articulating design rationale and growing as a trusted creative voice.
- Document and share how AI tools reshape workflows, contributing to the practice’s evolving understanding of AI enabled visual design.
- Contribute to proposals and case studies by delivering project work, process documentation, and design narratives that showcase capabilities.
- Stay responsive to internal and client needs, flagging opportunities for deeper work or expanded scope to the lead.
- Mentor junior team members informally, sharing feedback, references, and practices that help grow visual craft.
- Actively contribute to the Visual Design Craft community through shared resources, discussions, and ongoing discipline development.
Requirements
- 5+ years of visual design experience across multiple industries, brand types, platforms, and contexts.
- Ability to contribute to visual design engagements end to end, from concepting and visual strategy to production ready delivery.
- Proficiency in brand identities, design systems, typography, motion, illustration, and digital UI with a developing visual voice.
- Deliver high fidelity visuals with pixel perfect attention to detail and developer ready specifications.
- Experience offering informal feedback to junior designers and helping others grow their craft and confidence.
- Experience working in agile, cross functional environments with product designers, product managers, engineers, and strategists.
- Strong grounding in UX principles that informs visual decisions and conveys a coherent brand point of view.
- Experience contributing to scalable design systems ensuring visual consistency across products, platforms, and channels.
- Comfort using AI tools for concept generation, mood boarding, rapid iteration, and openness to evolving AI enabled workflows.
- Hands on experience with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and relevant motion, illustration, or AI design tools.
- Strong communication skills and client presence; ability to present design rationale and participate in creative discussions with stakeholders.
