Vice President, Product Designer
Job Description
The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation is seeking a Vice President, Product Designer to lead user-centered design across complex digital systems within the Digital Channels team. This onsite role is based in New York, NY, and focuses on translating research and user insights into intuitive, high-impact experiences across cross-functional journeys. The position offers a salary range of USD 68,000 to 203,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Champion a user-first design approach, translating research and behavioral insights into a seamless product experience.
- Map and analyze end-to-end journeys across customers, operations, servicing teams, and systems to uncover pain points, pivotal moments, and opportunities for improvement; use journey maps to align teams on a shared view of user needs.
- Design and refine complex web interfaces and workflows that are highly functional and visually engaging, including intuitive layouts, navigation patterns, and interaction models for intricate systems; thoughtfully incorporate animation and micro-interactions to guide users.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency with design tools such as Figma and Miro to produce high-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and mockups that clearly communicate interaction models and UI specifications.
- Contribute to a global design system, developing reusable workflow patterns and components to ensure visual consistency across interfaces.
- Apply an understanding of complex systems to distill intricate requirements into clear, usable design solutions that support user interaction.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align design efforts with business goals while respecting technical constraints.
- Communicate design concepts and rationale effectively, using storytelling to help diverse stakeholders understand and buy into the product vision.
- Mentor and guide junior designers, providing constructive feedback and elevating team standards to foster a culture of learning and collaboration.
- Portfolio required to be considered for this position.
- Typically five or more years of experience, or equivalent expertise demonstrated through portfolio and leadership impact.
