Job Description

The Vellox Product Designer role at Booz Allen Hamilton focuses on designing AI-native, data-dense enterprise security interfaces, contributing to a shared design system, and collaborating with product managers and engineers. This onsite position is based in McLean, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Design intuitive interfaces that balance visual craft, usability, and feasible implementation across data-dense enterprise products.
  • Produce wireframes, high-fidelity designs, interactive prototypes, and implementation-ready specifications that clearly communicate design intent.
  • Develop AI-native and agentic interaction patterns, including conversational interfaces, multi-step assisted flows, and AI-driven task orchestration.
  • Translate product requirements and user needs into clear, compelling design solutions that enhance clarity, speed, and precision for security and analyst users.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers throughout discovery, design, implementation, launch, and post-release iteration.
  • Read and, when needed, write front-end code to accelerate prototyping, improve implementation quality, and strengthen design-engineering collaboration.
  • Contribute to and govern a shared design system, including token architecture, component specifications, visual standards, and design decision records.
  • Create production-grade design assets that scale across products and endure in production environments.
  • Iterate rapidly based on stakeholder feedback, usage signals, and ongoing design critique.
  • Ensure consistency, accessibility, and quality across user touchpoints, applying WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 as baseline standards.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in UX, UI, product design, or digital product design
  • Experience shipping commercial product experiences in web-based, enterprise, or data-dense applications
  • Experience creating wireframes, high-fidelity UI designs, interactive prototypes, and implementation-ready specifications
  • Experience using Figma, including components, auto layout, variables, and prototyping
  • Experience reading and writing front-end code to support prototyping, design implementation, or collaboration in engineering workflows
  • Experience collaborating with product managers and engineers from discovery through launch and post-release iteration
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 AA or Section 508
  • Ability to communicate design decisions clearly and incorporate constructive feedback into iterative design work
  • Ability to provide a design portfolio
  • HS diploma or GED

Work Model

  • Our people-first culture emphasizes collaboration, whether in person or virtually, with virtual staff generally expected to keep cameras on during meetings.
  • Remote: If listed as remote, there may be occasions requiring in-person work at a Booz Allen or client facility.
  • Hybrid: If listed as hybrid, frequent presence at a Booz Allen facility is expected, with potential travel to client facilities.
  • Onsite: If listed as onsite, work will primarily occur at a Booz Allen office or client facility, with collaboration as required.

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is USD 99,000 to 225,000 annually. This figure represents typical salary range and is one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package. The posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
