Job Description
UX Designer, Design Systems & Visual Design on Amazon Autos focuses on evolving a scalable design system and delivering consistent, premium visual experiences across customer and dealer touchpoints.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the Amazon Autos design system across web and mobile by defining, documenting, and maintaining reusable components, patterns, tokens, and guidelines.
- Use AI-powered tools to suggest, audit, and optimize design token structures across themes and platforms.
- Produce high-fidelity UI designs with detailed attention to typography, color, spacing, iconography, motion, and layout for cohesive brand presentation.
- Design design system components for AI-powered experiences and natural language-to-UI interfaces that generate UI from system components.
- Design, specify, and document new components and patterns; partner with engineering for accurate implementation and accessibility compliance.
- Integrate AI tools to generate and maintain component documentation, usage guidelines, and changelogs at scale.
- Collaborate with engineers, UX designers, researchers, product managers, and content designers to turn business and customer needs into systematic design solutions.
- Audit existing experiences for visual and interaction inconsistencies and drive improvements that raise overall product quality.
- Define governance rules between AI-generated layouts and human-validated reviews to maintain brand alignment as AI workflows scale.
- Share best practices, conduct design reviews, and mentor peers on systems thinking and visual craft.
- Contribute to team rituals, critiques, and knowledge sharing.
- Create interactive prototypes and design narratives to communicate ideas, align stakeholders, and validate concepts.
- Use prompt-driven prototyping and generative AI to explore design directions within system constraints.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design focused on design systems and/or visual design.
- Portfolio showing visual design craft, systematic thinking, and end-to-end product design work.
- Proficiency with modern design tools such as Figma, including component libraries, auto-layout, variables/tokens, and prototyping.
