Job Description

Parsons is seeking a UI/UX Designer to join the Joint Staff Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) team. In this Virginia onsite role, you will help shape intuitive, secure interfaces for data and AI-enabled products that support Department of Defense objectives.

The position focuses on turning mission needs and technical constraints into clear, user-centric design across the product lifecycle, while maintaining usability, accessibility, and security standards in a secure DoD environment.

What you’ll do

  • Design and develop user interfaces and user experiences for data, analytics, and AI-enabled platforms supporting Joint Staff missions
  • Convert mission requirements, user feedback, and technical constraints into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs
  • Partner with product managers, technical leads, data scientists, and mission stakeholders to ensure interfaces match operational workflows
  • Apply industry best practices and DoD standards for usability, accessibility, and security
  • Run user research, usability testing, and iterative design cycles to improve adoption and satisfaction
  • Create and maintain design systems, style guides, and reusable UI components for consistent use across products and PODs
  • Present design concepts and rationale to cross-functional teams to advocate for strong UX across delivery and sustainment
  • Support deployment, monitoring, and sustainment of UI/UX solutions within secure DoD environments

Required qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of UI/UX design experience for complex applications, preferably in secure or federal environments
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools: Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design, usability, accessibility, and visual design standards
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver mission-driven products
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

Additional preferred skills

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Joint Staff, or similar government organizations
  • Familiarity with data visualization, analytics platforms, and AI-enabled product interfaces
  • Experience designing for secure, cloud-based, or enterprise environments
  • Knowledge of DoD usability, accessibility, and security standards (for example, Section 508, NIST)
  • Advanced certifications in UI/UX, human factors, or design disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to lead user research, usability testing, and iterative design in large, matrixed organizations

Security clearance requirement: An active Top Secret SCI security clearance is required for this position.

Salary range: USD 103,500 to 181,100 per year.

Location: Virginia (onsite).
