Staff Product Designer, Mission Applications - Clearance Required

LMI is hiring a Staff Product Designer to help shape data-driven applications that support a U.S. Army technology modernization program. In this onsite role at Ft. Belvoir, VA (2 to 3 days per week), you will translate mission workflows into clear digital experiences and collaborate closely with engineering teams to move from discovery to production delivery. The position is backed by an expected annual salary range of USD 111,301 to 192,653.

Responsibilities

• Lead continuous product discovery with Army users and stakeholders.
• Turn mission workflows into product concepts, user journeys, prototypes, and interface designs.
• Validate designs through user research, usability testing, and direct stakeholder feedback.
• Partner with software engineers and data engineers during design and implementation.
• Shape product priorities by connecting user needs, technical constraints, and mission outcomes.
• Establish reusable design patterns and maintain consistency across applications.
• Represent user experience in product and technical decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer interaction, information systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Seven or more years of experience in product design, user-experience design, or human-centered design.
• Demonstrated ownership of complex digital products from discovery through production delivery.
• Strong experience with user research, workflow design, prototyping, and usability testing.
• Experience designing data-intensive applications or operational workflows.
• Experience working closely with software-development teams.
• Portfolio demonstrating relevant product-design work.
• Experience supporting a Department of Defense customer.
• Active Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting the U.S. Army.
• Experience designing applications within Palantir Foundry, Army Vantage, or a comparable enterprise platform.
• Familiarity with Army acquisition or program-management processes.
• Proficiency with Figma or comparable design and prototyping tools.
• Experience building or maintaining a design system.
• Familiarity with accessibility and secure government environments.

Onsite Support and Security Clearance

This role requires onsite support 2 to 3 days per week at the customer site in Ft. Belvoir, VA.

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for a U.S. Government security clearance. Only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance. LMI will only consider applicants with security clearances or those eligible for security clearances, due to the nature of the work.
