Job Description
Staff Product Designer, Growth - International at CNN (Warner Bros. Discovery) is an onsite role in New York, NY with a salary range of USD 119,000 to 221,000 per year, focused on converting audiences into subscribers across CNN Digital properties and the CNN streaming product.
Responsibilities
- Executes across all phases of the design process from conception to implementation, including wireframing, prototyping, and visual design
- Drives large-scale, highly strategic projects deemed business critical
- Contributes to a clear vision for the future of design and demonstrates the ability to implement forward thinking design
- Translates ideas and concepts into visually tangible flows and plans
- Delivers polished visuals based on strong design fundamentals
- Understands the intersection of product design for a media streaming product and business goals
- Builds collaborative relationships with internal stakeholder leads (Product Management, Engineering, Editorial, Revenue, etc.) to align with broader company goals
- Demonstrates strong understanding and implementation of internal design processes
- Contributes thoughtful solutions to complex design problems
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience, specifically as a Product Designer
- Design portfolio showing strong UX and visual design solutions, with emphasis on identifying and solving real user problems
- Mastery of Figma for UX design and prototyping
- Foundational understanding of HTML and CSS
- Contribute to and evolve CNN’s user experience to support scalability, localization, and global accessibility
- Experience with media environments and streaming is a plus
- Familiarity with subscription lifecycles, paywalls, and monetization strategies
- Exposure to international research or working with distributed, global teams
- Understanding of product bundling, identity verification, authentication, and authorization systems
- Proven ability to execute on product design strategy and partner with cross functional team members
- Experience building world class product experiences and driving continuous iteration to improve workflows
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Able to drive UX design across usability principles, user research methodologies, testing techniques (A/B, Multi-Variant), design theory, and interaction design
- Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience
