Staff Motion Designer
Job Description
Harvey is seeking a Staff Motion Designer in San Francisco to define and elevate the motion design language across brand, product storytelling, launch moments, web experiences, customer education, and executive-facing creative work.
Responsibilities
- Own the motion language for the Harvey brand across launch videos, product explainers, website and campaign moments, event assets, social edits, sales enablement, and other high-impact creative surfaces.
- Develop motion concepts, storyboards, styleframes, animatics, and final assets that clarify complex AI workflows with a premium Harvey aesthetic.
- Collaborate closely with Brand, Product Marketing, Product Design, Creative Operations, and other GTM stakeholders to translate positioning, product context, and user needs into ship-ready motion narratives.
- Build reusable motion systems, templates, animation principles, and production workflows to scale motion output without reworking each request.
- Use sound judgment to scope work for polished hero moments, rapid-launch needs, quick-turnaround edits, and longer-term brand-system investments.
- Raise the craft bar for motion while performing the essential production work required in a fast-moving creative team.
Requirements
- A strong portfolio of motion work that demonstrates storytelling, art direction, animation craft, visual systems thinking, and the ability to explain the process behind the finished work.
- Deep fluency with motion design tools and workflows such as After Effects, Figma, Cinema 4D, Lottie, Rive, code-adjacent motion, or comparable production tools.
- Experience building motion for brand, product, marketing, launch, or education contexts, ideally within a product-led technology company or high-growth SaaS environment.
- Proven ability to simplify complex concepts visually, with strong instincts for pacing, sequencing, hierarchy, narration, and accessibility.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills, including clarifying briefs, aligning with PMM or Marketing goals, managing competing feedback, and prioritizing multiple stakeholder requests.
- A staff-level ownership mindset: contributes ideas, shapes systems, navigates ambiguity, embraces feedback, and is willing to roll up sleeves to support execution when needed.
