Sr. Product Designer, AWS Search, Security, Observability, Governance
Job Description
Help shape how customers trust and control agentic security experiences across AWS.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design for agentic security surfaces across AWS Continuum, AWS Security Hub, and related products, from problem framing and research through interaction design, visual craft, and launch
- Define how trust is earned in the interface, including:
- How customers grant autonomy
- How customers observe an agent’s actions and reasoning
- How customers verify outcomes
- How customers intervene when needed
- Set the design vision and develop a pattern language for autonomy in security in a space where patterns do not yet exist
- Bring partners along using sharp narratives and prototypes
- Partner daily with product, engineering, and science to balance customer needs, technical constraints, and safety and verification requirements for agentic systems
- Design for runtime verification where agents may act faster and more opaquely than a human can follow, ensuring customers remain informed, in control, and able to trust what occurred
- Make decisions grounded in evidence by synthesizing qualitative and quantitative signals, running research, and validating with real security practitioners before and after launch
- Translate dense topics into interface patterns that reduce cognitive load, including autonomy levels, agent reasoning, remediation, verification, and telemetry
- Raise the design bar through critique, mentorship, and reusable patterns, and extend shared systems that your work depends on
Requirements
- 7+ years of design experience
- Available online portfolio
- Knowledge of usability principles and techniques
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools in academic or professional settings
Benefits
- Sign-on payments
- Restricted stock units (RSUs)
- Health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance, option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage)
- 401(k) matching
- Paid time off
- Parental leave
Team focus
- AWS Security sits inside SSOG
- Security needs to keep pace as AI systems become more capable and autonomous
- Focus area: the gap between what an agent can do and what a human can verify
- Goal: rebuild the experience for a world where agents act and humans must trust, verify, and stay in control
Location and salary
- Location: New York, NY (onsite)
- Salary: USD 137,800 - 205,000 per year
A day in the life
- Work sessions with PM and tech lead on how much autonomy customers should grant an agent at the start, and how the interface justifies requests for more autonomy
- Critique sessions focused on how agents surface reasoning without overwhelming customers
- Observation of a security analyst using a AWS Continuum prototype, including the moment they hesitate before allowing the agent to act
- Alternation between zoomed-out strategy (security when agents do most of the work) and zoomed-in craft (defaults, disclosure, and “undo” language)
