Software Engineer III (Graphics Support, Web Designer)
Job Description
Based onsite at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, this role sits within People Technology and Processes LLC and centers on graphics support and web design. As a Senior Software Engineer III, you will oversee the development of websites and applications, focusing on usability, accessibility, and brand consistency while supporting graphics and digital media functions across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain custom websites and applications, including those that are not form-driven and require advanced programming across multiple languages such as HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Python, PHP, and SQL.
- Utilize design tools like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, PowerPoint, and related technologies alongside HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML, with familiarity of UNIX, Windows NT, and TCP/IP.
- Develop and implement front-end user interfaces and back-end functionalities across platforms to support both public-facing and internal websites.
- Provide limited support to graphics efforts for the organization’s SharePoint page and other internal content management systems.
- Use analytics and monitoring tools to assess site performance and user behavior, making data-driven recommendations to improve usability and experience.
- Build and support event registration and information sites with customized features aligned to mission requirements.
- Ensure compliance with DoD and Army cybersecurity and accessibility standards in the development and maintenance of web assets.
- Develop technical documentation and configuration settings related to web security, backup procedures, and overall site architecture.
- Provide backup support for digital and social media platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment with web content strategies.
- Offer backup support for other graphics-related functions, including event photography and production of awards.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Graphic Design, Computer Information Systems, Web Design, or a related field.
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience with demonstrated knowledge in conceptualization, layout, typography, photography, illustration, Web Design and animation, production, and prepress work, with five (5) or more years of professional Web development/coding experience in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, PowerPoint and other design tools as well as HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML.
- Alternatively, an Associate’s Degree with a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in the fields listed, with additional years of experience able to substitute for the field of study.

This includes complex coding, maintenance, analytics, marketing integration, and user education.
