Senior UI/UX Front-End Design Lead
Job Description
Dev Technology is seeking a Senior UI/UX Front-End Design Lead to help shape UI/UX strategy and drive accessible, consistent design execution across multiple teams and applications. This onsite role is based in Reston, VA, supporting a large federal agency environment. You will serve as the UI/UX subject matter expert, establish reusable component libraries and design systems, and perform final UI/UX review and sign-off ahead of UAT and rollout.

Responsibilities
- Act as the UI/UX SME, translating business requirements and UX strategy into elegant, intuitive, high-performing interfaces for development teams
- Drive UI/UX best practices across programs to ensure consistency, usability, and accessibility
- Establish and maintain reusable component libraries and design systems using frameworks such as Bootstrap, Material UI, and Trussworks
- Ensure Section 508 compliance and adherence to WCAG 2.x across applications
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product owners, designers, backend engineers, and stakeholders to deliver user-centered solutions
- Work with project and client leadership to shape a modernization roadmap and support modernization initiatives and continuous proactive improvements while staying current with emerging frontend technologies
- Lead troubleshooting for complex UI/UX and performance issues
- Provide final UI/UX review and sign-off of developed apps across multiple platforms (for example, M365 / Power Platform, ServiceNow) and frontend development teams (for example, React-based apps) prior to customer UAT and rollout
- Lead creation of high-fidelity prototypes and wireframes for multiple teams working across disparate tech stacks
- Develop repeatable design-to-development workflows to accelerate delivery across teams
- Conduct usability testing and design validation sessions with development teams
- Coach and mentor development teams on UI/UX best practices and modern design approaches
Requirements
- US Citizenship required; must be able to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction & Design, or a related technical discipline (or related professional experience in lieu of a degree acceptable)
- Over 8 years of hands-on experience in UI/UX design and implementation, applying design standards and collaborating closely with development teams to deliver consistent, intuitive user experiences
- 3–5 years of experience leading design initiatives across multiple applications or cross-functional teams
- Advanced proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3, and in design tools such as Figma or the Adobe suite
- Experience designing scalable component-based design systems
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG
- Proven experience optimizing frontend performance and application scalability
- Experience working in Agile / DevSecOps development environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead UI/UX planning discussions and influence frontend strategy
- Experience with React and Power Platforms
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Portfolio showcasing enterprise-level UI/UX work

Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction and Design or similar area of study
- Experience leading frontend modernization or transformation initiatives
- Familiarity with Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or other UX prototyping tools
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD integration for frontend deployments
- Experience designing solutions that follow USWDS and support federal or regulated environments
