Product/Industrial Designer

Design Central, Inc. is hiring a Product/Industrial Designer for a full-time, in-studio position in Columbus, Ohio.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members to support product and industrial design initiatives
• Create concept sketches to explore form, function, and design direction
• Develop designs using CAD workflows
• Produce 3D renderings and visualizations
• Build and iterate physical prototypes
• Design client presentation materials to clearly communicate process and outcomes
• Participate in client meetings in a professional, efficient, confident, and effective manner
• Act as an active and reliable team member
• Coordinate work with clients as part of the design process

Requirements

• Strong portfolio showing:
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Good design judgment
  • Sketching ability
  • Form development
  • Understanding of manufacturing
  • Professional presentation of process and results
• Positive, flexible, adaptable, enthusiastic, can-do attitude
• Ability to balance multiple projects
• Strong aesthetic sense
• Aptitude for mechanical development is a plus
• Graphic sensitivity and UI experience is a plus
• Self-motivated, results-oriented, with personal drive
• Effective communication skills
• Interest in the big picture and the perspectives of others
• Desire for growth, improvement, and goal of lifelong learning
• B.S./B.A. in Product Design or Industrial Design
• 0 to 4 years of experience
