Product Designer II
Job Description
Work within Microsoft Windows Design teams on Privacy and Security design, delivering end-to-end product experiences for moderately complex areas.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design execution for moderately complex product areas, covering problem definition, high-fidelity design, prototyping, and delivery with minimal oversight
- Partner with Product Management and Engineering to shape solutions that are feasible, coherent, and aligned with product strategy, while maintaining a high bar for craft across disciplines
- Use frontier AI tools (for example: AI-assisted research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, content generation) to improve the speed, quality, and impact of design outcomes
- Turn qualitative and quantitative research findings into actionable design improvements, iterating through user feedback, experimentation, and product metrics
- Create and test prototypes from low- to high-fidelity to validate concepts, de-risk decisions, and clearly communicate intent to partners and stakeholders
- Develop design narratives that explain the WHAT, WHY, and HOW, connecting design decisions to user needs and business outcomes
- Support team culture by participating in critiques and team rituals and working collaboratively with openness to learning and growth
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or a related field, plus 3+ years of experience working in product or service design
- OR equivalent experience (example: demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems)
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements for this role
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: required to pass upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Preferred Qualifications
- Portfolio showing strong design fundamentals: well-crafted UI, clear layouts, basic systems thinking, and the ability to explain design decisions and tradeoffs
- Experience with modern design, prototyping, and AI-powered creation tools, including Figma, prototyping/vibe-coding platforms, and frontier AI technologies to accelerate research, ideation, prototyping, content creation, accessibility reviews, and experimentation
- Strong interaction design and UX foundation, including usability, accessibility, and inclusive design best practices
- Communication and storytelling skills to present work clearly and receive feedback constructively

Salary: USD 102,100 - 219,200 per year
