Product Designer II

Bestow is building the infrastructure that helps life insurers modernize faster, and the Underwriting module is central to that mission. In this role, you will translate complex underwriting and manager workflows into clear, efficient, defensible experiences inside a regulated B2B workbench. The work is prototype-first, pairing research, design, and coded prototypes with close collaboration across product and engineering.

About the role

As Product Designer II for the Underwriting module, you will own end-to-end design for key workbench initiatives. You will turn dense workflows for underwriters and managers into experiences that improve clarity under pressure, where trust, auditability, and operational accuracy matter alongside visual polish.

You will report to the Senior Manager, UX Design. This position is open to Remote (US) and is based in Dallas, TX (remote).

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design for assigned initiatives, from problem framing and research through prototyping, validation, and implementation partnership
• Conduct and synthesize research using user interviews, usability testing, and data analysis to validate design decisions and inform product strategy
• Partner with product managers to define problems, outline approaches, and set success criteria while requirements are still forming
• Create user flows, diagrams, Figma designs, and coded prototypes that clearly communicate direction to stakeholders and engineering
• Collaborate in shared code repositories by reading existing prototypes, iterating in an IDE with AI assistance, and partnering with engineers during implementation
• Partner with engineering to preserve design integrity while balancing technical constraints
• Participate in design critiques to help elevate quality across the team
• Champion user-centered design in a regulated product where defensibility and operational clarity are essential

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 3–5 years of product design experience, ideally on complex or regulated products such as fintech, healthcare, enterprise B2B, insurance, or similar
• Portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, research-to-shipping discipline, and attention to interaction and visual detail
• Track record of delivering product work with measurable impact, even when the research-to-production path is not linear
• Figma proficiency and modern prototyping approaches
• Required: hands-on experience building or iterating on designs in an IDE or code-based environment (e.g., Cursor, VS Code with AI assistants, Claude Code), not only observing engineers prototype
• Required: comfort reading and navigating coded prototypes and collaborating in repos with engineering and product partners
• Strong preference: demonstrated use of AI in daily design practice, with examples of what you automate, what you keep human, and what failed
• Experience contributing to or working within design systems and component libraries
• Strong analytical skills using qualitative and quantitative inputs to inform decisions
• Excellent communication and productive cross-functional collaboration
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and making progress with incomplete information

Compensation

$108,000 - $125,000 per year. Total rewards also include role-based equity.

• Experience with agentic or multi-step AI workflows in design or product exploration
• Familiarity with design-system-to-code pipelines (Figma production components)
• Background designing internal tools, ops platforms, or data-heavy workbench experiences
