Job Description

Pocket is seeking a Product Designer in San Francisco, CA to help shape the full end-to-end experience across its hardware and software. You’ll focus on interaction design for searching personal memory, and you’ll bring ideas to life through prototypes developed in close partnership with engineering and founders.

What you’ll work on

  • Design customer experiences across Pocket’s hardware and software surfaces, covering everything from first setup to daily use.
  • Create new interaction patterns for searching personal memory, including ways for people to check uncertain summaries and correct AI mistakes.
  • Build prototypes with real data and working behavior, not just static screens.
  • Apply product design craft to make the experience feel cohesive, including typography, motion, hierarchy, interaction, and platform-native details.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering to move designs into production and improve the product after launch.

What you bring

  • A portfolio of shipped work that demonstrates strong visual taste, thoughtful interactions, and careful attention to final details.
  • A builder’s mindset, where you make something, test it, and learn from how it behaves.
  • Experience with an AI-assisted workflow using tools such as Paper, Figma Make, v0, Cursor, and Claude Code to explore and prototype.
  • Confidence designing across mobile, desktop, and web, with a clear sense of what should feel native on each.
  • Ownership and sound judgment, including the willingness to change your mind when evidence changes.

Tools you’ll use

  • Paper
  • Figma Make
  • v0
  • Cursor
  • Claude Code

Bonus points

  • Experience building a consumer product from scratch.
  • Experience designing hardware experiences.
  • Strong motion design or front-end skills.

Compensation

USD 190,000 - 230,000 per year

Pocket’s work blends a physical product with the software around it, with a founder who cares about design. The challenges are open-ended and customer-facing, including how AI earns someone’s trust and what searching your own memory should feel like, with the outcomes delivered to existing customers.
