Product Designer
Job Description
At thredUP Inc, this Product Designer role helps shape product and research experiences that feel joyful, crafted, and intentional for the core selling marketplace. Working across native apps and mobile web, you will partner closely with product management, data science, marketing, content, research, and engineering to move ideas from strategy to prototypes, testing, and launch.
What you’ll do
- Partner with product management to refine product strategy and project goals, brainstorm concepts, define customer workflows, prototype interactions, conduct research, and launch new products and services
- Own and produce design deliverables for product initiatives, taking work from insight and strategy through to launch across native apps and mobile web
- Run user research to understand needs and pain points, and conduct usability testing to collect feedback that strengthens designs
- Generate creative product ideas beyond familiar patterns, bringing fresh thinking to the user experience
- Collaborate with brand, content, and creative partners so the thredUP brand shows up throughout the product experience
- Work with engineering to implement meaningful, crafted user experiences
- Contribute to a team of product designers and UX researchers by improving internal processes and raising the quality and innovation bar
- Ship highly crafted, joyful experiences that support thredUP’s mission of inspiring consumers to think secondhand first
What you bring
- 3-5 years of experience as a digital product designer shipping products on cross-functional teams
- A strong portfolio showing shipped products and a user-centered, insights-driven design process
- Fluency with diagramming, wireframing, and prototyping tools such as Figma, plus AI native tools like Claude Code
- Ideal experience prototyping in code and having shipped code into production
- Experience designing across platforms, with understanding of technical constraints for web, iOS, and Android
- Experience working solo or with user research teams for user testing, mixed methods research, and usability evaluations
- Excellent communication and collaboration across teams and stakeholders
- Exposure partnering with business and data science stakeholders to align with business objectives and develop metrics that quantify impact
- Self-motivated, agile approach to prioritize and manage trade-offs in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Self-aware mindset with a growth focus, low-ego collaboration, and willingness to learn from the team
- Curiosity and future thinking, including interest in emerging technology such as AI and how it can improve customer experience and streamline workflows
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in design, psychology, computer science, or a related field

Role details
- Location: Oakland, CA (hybrid)
- Salary: USD 159,000 - 180,000 per year
- Minimum experience: 3 years
