Product Designer
Job Description
Based in Norristown, PA, Goliath is seeking a hands-on Product Designer to take toys from concept through production.
Responsibilities
- Craft engaging toys, activity kits, novelty compounds, and related consumer products that align with Goliath's brands and target audiences
- Generate inventive product concepts that balance innovation, play value, manufacturability, and cost targets
- Produce digital renderings, CAD models, and physical prototypes to convey design intent and assess concepts
- Refine designs through testing, feedback, and iterative development cycles
- Convert concepts into production-ready specifications and manufacturing documentation
- Collaborate with Product Development and Engineering to ensure functionality, safety, quality, and cost objectives are met
- Evaluate prototypes and production samples, offering improvement recommendations throughout the development timeline
- Support projects from initial concept through final production and launch
- Collaborate closely with the Art Director, Product Development, Sales, Marketing, and fellow designers across the development lifecycle
- Contribute innovative ideas during brainstorming sessions for new products and line extensions
- Present concepts, prototypes, and design solutions to internal stakeholders
- Incorporate cross-functional feedback while preserving design integrity and project objectives
- Work with domestic and international manufacturing partners to source materials and advance products toward production
- Communicate design requirements, review manufacturing samples, and help resolve production challenges
- Ensure products align with design intent while remaining manufacturable and cost-effective
- Create layouts and visual concepts for retail displays, merchandising solutions, and trade show exhibits
- Support visual presentations that showcase products and enhance Goliath's retail presence
- Contribute graphic design elements to products and presentations as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field
- Product design experience is required; experience in toys, arts and crafts, activities, or consumer products is preferred
- Proficiency with SolidWorks
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop
- Strong understanding of the product development process from concept to manufacturing
- Excellent creative thinking, visualization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and external vendors
