Motion Designer (Temporary)
Job Description
The Motion Designer role within the CNN Design group at Warner Bros. Discovery is a fixed-term, hybrid position based in New York City. The selected designer will develop innovative motion graphics and packaging for CNN programs, specials and documentaries across television production.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with creative directors, producers and editors to deliver animated graphics with meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Partner with the creative team and editorial partners to develop concepts and motion graphics for show opens, transitions, explainer graphics and scenic studio elements.
- Design and develop visual looks and graphic packages for news programs, special events and documentary pieces.
- Stay informed on industry trends, new practices, and evolving design and production tools.
- Apply problem-solving skills to translate editorial storytelling into cohesive creative solutions.
- Navigate fluidly between 2D and 3D animation styles to achieve the desired presentation.
- Articulate design concepts clearly to team members and clients to ensure alignment.
- Maintain self-motivation, a positive attitude, and strong interpersonal skills to contribute to a creative and inclusive workplace.
- Thrives in a highly collaborative, deadline-driven environment with reliable communication.
Requirements
- A degree in motion design, animation, or graphic design, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience producing high-end creative work for television.
- Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Knowledge of Maxon Cinema 4D and Redshift (or other accelerated renderers) is preferred.
- Familiarity with plugins such as RedGiant, Boris FX, Sapphire, AE Expressions, C4D Expresso, X-Particles, and related tools.
- Strong conceptual design abilities complemented by motion design expertise, typography, color theory, illustration, photography, and layout.
- Experience managing multiple projects with changing deliverables and tight timelines.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate project needs.
- Solid understanding of compositing techniques.
- Strong design and production portfolio required; a reel is required with the ability to present 2-3 case studies and highlight individual contributions.
