Job Description
Meta’s Creative X is hiring a Motion Designer, CX in San Francisco, CA (onsite). In this role, you’ll conceptualize, design, and animate motion graphics for marketing, brand, and product storytelling across Meta’s apps and hardware. You’ll also build reusable motion systems and production workflows that scale, including creative coding automation and AI-assisted hybrid pipelines.
Compensation: USD 122,000 - 175,000 per year. Experience level: 5+ years.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, design, and animate motion graphics for marketing campaigns, social content, and product launches across Meta’s family of apps and hardware products.
- Translate creative briefs and brand principles into cohesive visual narratives, applying judgment in animation, composition, typography, color, and pacing.
- Deliver finished assets across formats and channels, managing priorities, production details, and creative feedback across multiple projects.
- Build and maintain modular motion systems, reusable animation components, and templates that enable creative variation while preserving brand consistency.
- Partner with technical producers or engineers on API integrations and production deployment when needed.
- Use expressions, scripting, procedural techniques, and data-driven animation to automate repeatable tasks such as content population, asset resizing, versioning, and rendering.
- Integrate AI-powered tools into hybrid creative workflows by using prompting, context, and iteration to produce controlled, high-quality results.
- Test and refine systems against real production needs by evaluating creative quality, reliability, and efficiency, troubleshooting failures, and improving workflows based on team feedback.
- Document and share reusable tools, templates, and workflow instructions so other creatives can use and maintain them, including organizing source files and assets and applying brand, technical, and responsible AI quality checks before delivery.
Requirements
- 5+ years of motion design experience creating video marketing assets, social content, or brand communications, with a portfolio showing strong animation craft and visual storytelling.
- Proficiency with After Effects and relevant Adobe Creative Suite tools, with demonstrated understanding of composition, color, typography, timing, and pacing.
- Hands-on experience with creative coding or scripting (for example, After Effects, React, or Python) to build animations, tools, or production automations.
- Experience building reusable motion templates, procedural animation setups, or creative workflows used across multiple assets or projects, with examples showing both the creative output and the underlying system.
- Hands-on experience with AI-powered creative tools such as Weavy, Krea, Runway, or similar, including integrating generated outputs into finished creative work.
- Ability to work independently from a brief, manage concurrent deliverables, and collaborate with creative and technical partners in a deadline-driven environment.
- Working knowledge of audio/video formats, codecs, rendering, and delivery requirements, plus organized source-file, asset-management, and versioning practices.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (for example, risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews).
- Experience with 3D tools such as Cinema 4D or Blender, character animation, or generative and procedural motion techniques applied to brand or product contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize or redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (efficiency gains, quality improvements).
- Experience building reusable AI workflow instructions or agent skills, or working with LLM tool use and orchestration to support tasks such as brief analysis, asset generation, template population, or creative quality review.
- Ongoing AI skill development (prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies.
- Experience moving a creative prototype into a repeatable team workflow, including documentation, user feedback, quality checks, and demonstrated efficiency or quality improvements.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining a brand or design system with motion principles, animation components, and scalable adaptation workflows.
- Experience applying responsible AI practices, including reviewing generated content for bias, accuracy, and creative quality, and evaluating emerging tools for practical use in production.
