Job Description

Graphic Design teaching role for grades 9-12 at Skyline High School within Dallas ISD, onsite in Dallas, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute lesson plans aligned to the district curriculum, with documented preparation as required.
  • Establish a student assessment system in accordance with state laws or district guidelines.
  • Regularly monitor and record student progress and communicate updates to parents as needed.
  • Deliver instruction that aligns with the approved course of study for graphic design in grades 9-12.
  • Provide diverse learning experiences using multiple media and methods to engage students and optimize instructional time.
  • Identify student needs and collaborate with other staff to address health, attitude, and learning challenges.
  • Communicate educational programs to the community via open houses and PTA events.
  • Collaborate with the principal to implement evaluation processes in line with district guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate student records and file all required reports and documents.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; or an associate’s degree for certain CTE trade areas with relevant field experience, as designated by the Texas Education Agency.
  • Valid Texas CTE teaching certification with endorsements for the subject and grade level assigned (examples: Secondary Industrial Arts 6-12; Secondary Industrial Technology 6-12; Technology Education 6-12; or Trade and Industrial Education).
  • Verifiable professional experience in the Career and Technical Education field may substitute for a valid Texas teaching certificate.
  • Willingness to complete, or having completed, the Instructor Certification Training Program led by an NCCER Master Trainer.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with routine teaching tasks and procedures and the ability to follow specific instructions with minimal prior experience.
  • Present CTE subject matter according to TEA guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Structure a physical classroom conducive to learning.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
  • Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
