Job Description

At the University of Virginia, the Graphic Design Coordinator role sits within the School of Data Science, supporting marketing and brand initiatives across print, digital, and social media. The position handles asset management with Photoshelter, develops branded templates, and collaborates closely with the Creative Manager. This part-time, hybrid role is based in Charlottesville, with in-office presence required one day per week.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with designing a suite of print, digital, and social media marketing pieces.
  • Assist with the rollout of a digital asset management platform, Photoshelter.
  • Branded template creation, photo management and brand consistency.

Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 2+ years relevant experience required.
  • Licensure: None.
  • Technical skills: experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Canva.
  • Design skills: a solid understanding of core design principles like color theory, typography, layout, composition, hierarchy, alignment, balance, and visual communication.
  • Problem-solving skills: the capability to understand the request, identify challenges, and creatively develop effective solutions that meet project goals and client requirements.
  • Detail-oriented: meticulousness and accuracy in executing design elements, ensuring precision in typography, alignment, color consistency, and overall design quality.
  • Teamwork and collaboration: strong ability to work with others to achieve shared objectives.

Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

Compensation

This position will pay $25/hour.
