Frontend Engineer - UI/UX Focus
Job Description
Zettabyte is seeking a Frontend Engineer with a strong UI/UX focus to help shape end-to-end product experiences. This hybrid role in Palo Alto blends interface design in Figma with production implementation in Vue.js and Next.js, with integration across REST and GraphQL APIs and real-time dashboards.
What you will do
- Design user interfaces and workflows in Figma, producing mockups and prototypes
- Implement your own designs in Vue.js (primary) and Next.js
- Collaborate with backend engineers to design and consume RESTful and GraphQL APIs
- Build reliable state management and data fetching layers to support complex UI needs
- Own the full design-to-code pipeline for new features
- Create intuitive dashboards and visualizations powered by real-time API data
- Handle API error states, loading patterns, and data synchronization with care
- Run user research activities, build user flows, and iterate based on feedback
- Balance visual quality with technical constraints and performance requirements
What you bring
- 4+ years of combined experience in frontend development and UI/UX design
- Strong experience with Vue.js (with Vue 3 preferred), plus React/Next.js, TypeScript, and modern CSS
- Experience integrating APIs, handling asynchronous data, and using state management tools such as Pinia/Vuex and/or Redux
- Proficiency with REST APIs, GraphQL, and WebSocket connections
- Understanding of API design principles and the ability to provide feedback to backend teams
- Proficiency in Figma (or similar) for production-ready design work
- A portfolio that includes both design work and implemented projects
- Solid grounding in design fundamentals including typography, color theory, spacing, and visual hierarchy
- Experience owning features from initial concept through implementation

Compensation and work setup
- Competitive salary and equity based on experience and skillset
- Hybrid in Palo Alto, CA: 3 days in office and 2 days WFH (must locate in Palo Alto)
Bonus qualifications (if you have them)
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or Insomnia
- Knowledge of backend technologies to strengthen API collaboration
- Experience with real-time data visualization
- Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger documentation
- Formal design education or an HCI background
- Experience with design systems (creating and maintaining)
- Background in developer tools or technical product design
Unique aspect of the role: You will own the experience from design through API integration, shaping both the interface and the way it communicates with GPU infrastructure to support seamless end-to-end user experiences.
