Job Description
Special Tees seeks a Graphic Designer with Customer Service and Sales responsibilities onsite in Frederick, MD.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a flexible, energetic presence that works well in a team while delivering precise self management and detailed work

- Lead with creative problem solving when addressing ambiguity or strategic challenges
- Provide customer service via phone, email, and in person
- Tailor communication style to suit client personalities and project requirements
- Apply math skills to protect margins and project profitability
- Type at least 40 words per minute
- Partner with sales and production to ensure timely delivery of art proofs and design assets
- Create art files and proofs quickly in Adobe Illustrator and/or Adobe Photoshop
- Average daily output: eight art proofs or eight output files
- Contribute to personal and overall sales goals through client service, communication, and design work
- Navigate efficiently between art programs and other office software
- Use the customer database and related systems to save design and print details per customer/order
- Rebuild logos in vector format for print quality assurance
- Produce original artwork quickly while considering client style and personality
- Modify existing art files for updates or internal use as needed
- Generate output files to specifications, considering imprint area, garment color, ink colors, and garment type
- Assist in maintaining the production schedule with the sales team to ensure timely printing and shipping
- Coordinate with production on job-specific print details
- Inspect prints to verify they match the proofs
- Prepare, cut, and apply vinyl as required
- Assist with patches and other garment decorations as needed
- Research products and processes online to support ongoing learning and growth
- Use online resources for troubleshooting as necessary
- Monitor supplies inventory to keep production moving
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and manufacturers via phone and email
- Support general office and shop organization, mail handling, and purchase orders
- Expand and develop online program during downtime (no prior experience required)
- Lift up to 40 lbs and assist customers with loading orders into vehicles as needed
- Occasional driving for work may be required
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Graphic design experience: 1 year (Required)
- Adobe Creative Suite experience: 1 year (Required)
- Adobe Illustrator experience: 1 year (Required)
- Strong strategic planning, systematic organization, attention to detail
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Illustrator and Photoshop
- Mastery of typography, drawing, and illustration
- Solution oriented with independent problem solving in ambiguous situations
- Experience in screen printing, promotional products, or signage is a plus
- Portfolio to be provided
- Social media marketing experience is beneficial but not required
- Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with Apple Mail or Gmail
- Bonus: Shopworks, InkSoft, ASI, ESP knowledge
