Job Description

The Associate Product Designer at Uniek, Inc is responsible for shaping new home décor products from concept through launch, collaborating with Product Management, Engineering, Sourcing and Quality teams, with opportunities for growth as experience increases. This role is based in Waunakee, Wisconsin with a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and introduce new products that align with Uniek's business goals and consumer needs.
  • Own the product pathway from concept through sampling.
  • Identify current and future design trends through social media, market observations and trend research.
  • Design new products while achieving target price points, retail margins and trade profit.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver all required assets for projects, including hand sketches, 3D renderings and design briefs.
  • Product design and development for the following categories: Accent Furniture; Cabinets; Mirrors; Photo Frames; Shelving; Pinboards, Chalkboards; Dec Accents.
  • Assist with trend research and present findings.
  • Continuously explore new product ideas and design features to provide distinction and competitive advantage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Partner with the Design Director on the development and execution of product concepts.
  • Prepare detailed project specifications within established timelines.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of current and future décor trends.
  • Prepare detailed communications with all teams regarding project status and next steps.

Requirements

  • Tech or college degree in Graphic Design, Product Design, or Industrial Design. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with SolidWorks and/or Keyshot is a plus.
  • Experience with hand sketching.
  • General knowledge of the design process.
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver multiple projects on schedule.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking with the ability to ask relevant questions and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly to project changes and thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • Interest in working with overseas suppliers.
