Art Director [Campaign/Culture]
Job Description
poppi is looking for an Art Director to turn culture into standout campaign creative and a cohesive launch visual identity. This onsite role in Los Angeles partners closely with Creative Leadership, brand, social, and influencer teams to deliver high-volume, fast-turn work across digital, social, print, and experiential touchpoints.
In this position, you act as a strategic creative partner to the Creative Director, shaping campaign direction from concept through production while keeping visual standards consistent and on-trend for a growing brand.
What you’ll do
- Serve as a thought leader and strategic partner to the Creative Director to develop and evolve campaign creative and launch visual identity.
- Create and execute on-brand creative concepts across integrated platforms including digital, social, print, and experiential.
- Build mood boards, visual handwriting, and presentation decks to clearly communicate art direction for launches.
- Translate brand vision into cohesive, culture-driven campaigns in partnership with Creative Leadership.
- Lead art direction and manage process, including direct reports and freelance talent for seasonal and flavor launch campaigns across web and social.
- Drive brainstorming and cross-functional ideation with strong awareness of cultural and social trends.
- Deliver heavy-weight design across everyday assets and campaign-anchor work that sets the visual tone for the broader team.
- Lead design and production of assets across social, e-commerce, influencer, and email including static and motion, maintaining high quality and trend relevance.
- Ideate and design culture bombs as fast-turn, trend-responsive content that responds in real time to cultural moments.
- Support physical and print materials as needed, including mailers, IRL activations, and OOH.
- Provide onsite direction at shoots where needed, such as HQ video shoots or photo shoots.
- Maintain excellence across touchpoints, including high standards for typography, layout, and brand identity consistency.
- Supervise, mentor, and support the growth of 1–2 direct reports, and provide art direction and feedback to external vendors and freelancers.
- Work closely with Social & culture team leads to ensure creative is culturally relevant, disruptive, and defining for the brand.
- Manage multiple priorities and shifting deadlines in a fast, high-volume launch calendar without sacrificing quality.
- Stay current on industry, market, and youth culture trends, understanding the design language poppi should lean into to stay aligned.
What you bring
- Associate’s Degree in a related field required (Fine Arts, Graphic Design, etc.).
- 4–6 years of experience in art direction/design, ideally with brand or creative agency experience in a fast-moving, social-first environment.
- A highly creative portfolio showing both conceptual thinking and hands-on execution, from campaign anchor work to fast-turn social content.
- Deep fluency in social platforms, influencer culture, and internet trends.
- Strong typography and layout fundamentals with speed and adaptability.
- Experience managing freelancers/vendors and mentoring junior talent.
- A collaborative, low-ego approach capable of pitching big ideas and executing urgent social assets.
- Impeccable taste and high attention to detail.
- Motion design experience is a plus.
- Some management experience with interest in supervising and mentoring while setting a professional tone.
- Ability to adapt to change and shift priorities with ease.
- Strong presentation skills and experience communicating creative concepts with cross-functional partners.
- Comfort seeking input, sharing openly, and using feedback constructively.
- Experience in branded 360 campaigns and assets with an emphasis on digital.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with proven success in content creation and social media campaigns across new and emerging digital platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Suite, Figma, and project management tools such as Asana.
- Self-motivated team player who leads with positivity and passion.
Compensation
The expected compensation range is $110,700 to $185,250 per year. Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
Education
Associate’s Degree in a related field is required.
