Art Director

The Art Director will contribute to The Atlantic newsroom by creating original illustrations for daily digital coverage and features, while also commissioning and art directing assignments. The role may involve occasional work on special projects and the magazine. It is open to remote applicants and is a Guild position.

USD 85,000 - 100,000 per year

Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in editorial design, illustration, digital media, or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Create original illustrations for The Atlantic, with focus on daily coverage and digital features.
• Commission and art direct assignments.
• Possibly contribute to special projects and the magazine.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in editorial design, illustration, digital media, or other relevant fields
• Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud (experience with motion graphics and video editing preferred)
• Familiarity with Figma preferred
• Close attention to detail and the ability to multitask
• Clear and concise communication skills
• Experience in journalism or a news-related environment strongly preferred
